About the publication

A small press of one.

Antique is written and edited by Mangino. It exists to make room for a certain kind of attention — unhurried, unoptimised, and mostly offline.

I started Antique because I wanted somewhere to put the long thoughts — the ones that do not fit into a message, a thread, or a caption. It is a personal journal in the old sense: a place to think in public, slowly, and to keep a record of the thinking.

The name is not about age or objects. It is about the quality of attention we give to things that have been handled a great deal: words, memories, ordinary days. An antique is valuable because someone kept it. This is a place for keeping.

What you will find

Essays are the centre of the publication: finished pieces, usually between one and four thousand words, on attention, memory, technology, solitude, and the textures of a working life.

Notes are the margins. Short observations, quotations, and fragments that have not yet become anything else. They are published without polish, because polish is often what kills them.

What this is not

There is no content calendar. There are no sponsors, growth targets, or engagement metrics. Nothing here is generated in order to be consumed quickly, and nothing is written to be agreed with. If a piece is wrong, it will be revised in public and the revision dated.

Correspondence

Letters are welcome and read carefully. Write tofranklinfidelugwuowo@gmail.com. I answer what I can, when I can.

Colophon

Set in Cormorant Garamond for display and body, Inter for interface text, and JetBrains Mono for the small labels that keep things in order. Built with Astro, hosted as static files, indexed by Pagefind. The paper is a colour, not a texture. The antler was drawn with a single line and then corrected many times.
